![]() The main downside early on is that his S-type EX Skills aren't very good for spell casting compared to his T-type ones, but you can just switch back whenever he learns a new spell. For mid-tier spells, almost all of the S-type ones are more powerful. The most powerful spell set in terms of pure damage you can get without glitches/hacks is Absolute (S, 780), Prism Sword (S, 2400), Indignation (T, 1000), and Explosion (T, 800). TL DR: You can basically ignore titles or just use the costume titles you'll get later and not worry about the miniscule stat gains you'll be missing out on. Your major gains are going to be almost entirely from getting new equipment. Side note: level ups hardly do anything in this game. If those titles did what people say they do, then equipping Lloyd's Berserker from the beginning of the game would let him one-shot everything by the end game. Nice to have, but not nearly as big as they're made out to be. So for Drifting Swordsman, that's a 1/10 chance that you'll get a small boost to HP, 2/10 chance for STR, 2/10 for DEF. What those numbers actually are are a chance in 10 that you'll get a small additional boost to that stat upon level up. ![]() ![]() ![]() What most guides will tell you those numbers mean is that those stats go up by that amount on each level up. For example, they'll list Lloyd's Drifting Swordsman title as giving +1 to HP, +2 to STR, and +2 to DEF. I personally blame Nintendo Power for using misleading symbols for this, which were misinterpreted and copied by everyone else. A big one aside from the affection system aquamaxi mentioned is how titles work.ĭISCLAIMER: ALMOST EVERY GUIDE ON THE INTERNET ABOUT TITLES IN THIS GAME IS WRONG. However, the fortune teller in Triet (the desert town) can tell you, how high your affinity is.Īnd as for a sidequest guide it's been a while for me, but I think I looked up this one: It only comes into play at the very end of the game. Every party member has an affinity stat with Lloyd that is pretty much invisible. As for Lloyd full T type is better than full S type too.Īnd before anyone corrects me: Yes, you can have all the artes at once (or at least more than should be possible), but in order to do that you need to exploit a glitch which I believe only works in the Gamecube version anyway, so just ignore it.Īs for the affinity system I wouldn't worry about it too much, as least not on your first playthrough. If you don't want to bother that much at first, just let me tell you, that Genis and Raine are both better as pure T types. I know it's complicated at first, but you get used to it. The point of this is, that you try out different paths and choose, which one you prefer for every arte tree. However, you can for example go S Type with Demon Fang while going T Type with Sonic Thrust. Then he gets either the T arte Double Demon Fang or the S arte Fierce Demon Fang, but never both at the same time. But you can mix and match within every arte tree.Įxample: Lloyd starts out with Demon Fang. I'll try to explain the T and S artes: You have to choose either the T or S path for every arte tree and you can't have access to all the artes at the same time.
